I decided to take a walk down to El Toro today and have some lunch out at one of the cafe's I'd been reading up about online. It felt a bit cooler today and there was a nice breeze most of the time too. I walked down to Port Adriano for a look at all the amazing yachts etc. and then went back up to the main street and stopped for a coffee and croissant at Cafe Aroma. I wandered a bit further down the main street and then went down a side street and came across a nice little area with lots of seats under shady trees and probably the most impressive play area for children I've ever seen! The seats were really nice curved ones.
I sat in the shade and did some crochet for about an hour. It was very peaceful – just some birds singing for company. At about 1pm I wandered back to the main street and decided to try the Snooker cafe for lunch as I had read some good reviews online. I had the menu of the day. Scampi to start, with orange mayonnaise and a salad (it was very nice) then grilled sea bass with potatoes and Mediterranean roasted veg.
The fixed price menu included half a bottle of wine. It was good wine too – very drinkable – although I probably shouldn't have had half a bottle but a coffee and piece of banoffee pie helped sober me up a bit before my walk home! The meal was really nice. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. I think I will be returning with A for another meal when he has finished his course. Hoping they have Swordfish if I do – they were out of it today which is a shame. The sea bass was very tasty though.
I walked back to the apartment and sat outside under the trees again for a while. The balcony is fantastic but it does get very hot in the afternoons. It's brilliant in the morning/early afternoon and in the evenings but turns into a cooker when the sun is on it!
The sunset was very pretty tonight. I was just about to come inside and shut the patio door when I spotted 2 bats zooming around. They were small – like the ones we see at home so I'm guessing they might be pipistrelles.
